History Formed in 2001 by Steve Moore, Inner Surge's debut album Solus Verum consisted of 16 tracks with a lyrical and personal approach. Matrika, their second album, was recorded at Organic Sounds studios in Calgary and received positive reviews. The band is usually described as metal, Punk rock or metalcore. Punk-hardcore.info described the band as "post metal". Inner Surge's influences, as cited on the sleeve of its latest CD, Signals Screaming, include names such as Malcolm X, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, George Orwell, Naomi Klein and Public Enemy's Chuck D. More recently the band has cited authors Sam Harris (author) and Richard Dawkins as inspirations for their work. They are also ardent supporters of the EZLN organization, otherwise known as the Zapatista Army of National Liberation.

Inner Surge will be featured on the official movie soundtrack for the film Cabras, directed by Fredy Polania, who describes the band as "the next Rage Against the Machine". Fredy Polania and Polania Pictures have teamed up with Inner Surge to film multiple music videos due for release in 2007. The Cabras movie soundtrack will be the first film soundtrack to release music videos for every artist on its soundtrack and have them all downloadable for the video iPod's and PSP's. The film is due for release in 2008. Inner Surge is also set to liscence two tracks, "AzurA" and "the Outcome" to the Macabro Films upcoming psychological thriller "Amok!". Signals Screaming Era Signals screaming, Inner Surge's new album, was released on April 1, 2006 through Cyclone Records. X-Treme Productions describes the album as "one of the most essential metal albums of the year" from "one of the few metal bands from Canada that will reach worldwide notoriety." Canadanoise.com says "Signals Screaming is a battering-ram of an album that is impressive and powerful, both in sound and in message. Delivered through a screaming fury along with sung words that are weighted with disdain, the force of its lyrics is impossible to shut out." The album was recorded at Echo Base Studios with producer Casey Lewis. Signals Screaming is available for purchase through www.innersurge.com, iTunes, HMV Digital, and Virgin Records online.

Music Videos Inner Surge has filmed 2 music videos with "Cabras" movie director Fredy Polania of Polania Pictures. The first, "Retribution Song", has been released at www.CabrasSoundtrack.com and is set to be part of the historic "Cabras" soundtrack. Cabras's director Fredy Polania has recently entered in the running for a spot on Steven Spielberg's new show "On the Lot". The "Cabras" soundtrack is promoted by Overthrow Promotions. The video has been gaining popularity on websites such as youtube.com, Google Video and myspace.com.

Inner Surge's newest music video for the track "Wolves" was directed by Shaun Friesen of Free Zen Design (www.freezen.ca) in November/December 2006. The video was released in June 2007. The concept was based on the song's poetic commentary referring to the 1994 Rwandan genocide, paying tribute to the Rwandan people as well as heroes such as Romeo Dallaire and Paul Rusesabagina. Dismantle the Machinery Benefit Compilation Inner Surge is included on the Convergence Party Recordings benefit compilation called "Dismantle The Machinery: Songs of Audio Annihilation". Convergence Party Recordings is Philippines first self managed, worker owned & maintained volunteer run label/project.

The proceeds goes out to the Autonomous Media organization in Metro Manila (www.a-manila.org) to sustain its initiatives & work in organizing. A fraction of the number of copies produced, will also be donated to various collectives to raise funds for the grassroots revolution. A notable cause to mention is the Free Sagada 11 Campaign which needs urgent financial backup, and the ever thriving Food not Bombs activities in the Philippines.Other artists included on the compilation include the Brat Attack, Resistenza, The Martyr Index, Dying Process, Fuck the Facts and the Renegades of Punk. Members Steve Moore is the singer, main songwriter, guitarist and founder. Moore wrote nearly all of Inner Surge's second release, Matrika. Steve Moore has two other projects called Post Death Soundtrack and Free Form.

Bryan Sandau is the drummer. He contributed strongly to the writing of Signals Screaming, Inner Surge's third album.

Scott Taylor is the current guitarist. Scott joined Inner Surge in 2005 along with Bryan Sandau. He contributed to the writing of their 2006 album Signals Screaming.
